How to figure out health care reform:
Individuals:
The law will require individuals to purchase basic health insurance coverage in 2014 or pay a fine. Certain individuals will qualify for subsidies to purchase health insurance.
The penalties for acquiring health insurance are as follows:
Year Flat Fee % of income
2014 $95 1.0%
2015 $325 2.0%
2016 $695 2.5%
The law will also increase the floor for itemized deductions from 7.5% of adjusted gross income to 10%

Businesses:
The law will require businesses with an average of 50 or more full-time employees to provide health insurance or pay fines of up to $3,000 per year per uncovered employee. The law provides credits for businesses. The new law does not provide many incentives to create jobs as the cost to employers will be substantial. The only job created will be for the insurance industry.
As any decision requires some research, it is a good idea to talk to your insurance agent, accountant or attorney to see what will work for you.
