You would think the government and BP would have some better ideas that would work to stop the oil leak. For instance BP or the government could use a giant vacuum to suck up the oil and water. Treasure hunters use this technology to suck up dirt and coins. Why not use that technology? I have even heard of vacuums to clean out stream sediment to help fish. Why not use this technology in the marshes. The governor of Louisiana was using a device and asking why BP is using it on CNN. Then you could use water purification or water filters to separate the oil from the water. James Carvel indicated that this is a war and we they should just do it and send the bill to BP. I have heard of other suggestions like putting pipes down the existing hole. You could place a smaller pipe inside the existing hole and keep linking the pipes together. BP must not be listening to the advice because people have come up with some good suggestions.
Maybe the government could use a bomb. I heard that Russia has used nuclear bombs to stop oil leaks. Some experts are considering this option. Experts have said that you could use a conventional weapon today because the drilling technology has improved where they can place the bomb more precisely. This may be risky. However, it has been almost 50 days. If BP can't fix the problem, then it may be time to let other oil companies or let the government take over the situation. This oil spill is affecting the U.S. economy and Obama would be justified in acting on national security grounds.
Why is the government not talking to other countries or other companies to get a solution? BP caused this mess. BP does not have a very good record to begin with. So why is the government trusting them to fix the problem? We should be using other experts. If someone causes a car accident, do you hire them to fix your car or have them drive you to the hospital? I think the answer is no. So why should we have BP trying to fix this mess?
According to some of the experts there may be claims all the way up through the central US if storm blows all the junk over the Midwest. Farmers’ crops would be ruined. I really don't think BP can handle all those claims. I think BP will go bankrupt and leave the government holding the bag again just like the banks.
Our government should start doing more now before it too late. Obama needs to have a summit or something to get expert advice on how to deal with this problem. Just letting BP do what ever it wants is not working. BP has not been open with information from the beginning on the size of the spill. It also seems like BP does not want any help. If look at the bottom of this page Amazon even has a book on the basics of oil spill clean up. Maybe the government and BP should take a look at this book.
Another possible fix would be to sink an oil tanker bladder on top of it and then suck out the oil. Use an inflatable balloon or other bladder system to capture the oil. There are ideas on these hub pages to fix the problem. One looked good. It was a giant bell that could put over the leak. A hose would be connected to the bell to take the oil up to a waiting ship.
Why not cover the leak with dirt, rocks, and cement? If you get enough stuff on top, then it would probably stop the leak. Use skimmers on the top of the ocean to skim off the oil. Also, we should seek help other countries. Saudi Arabia has skimmers that they would let our government use. This would help with the clean up in the south.
These are a few ideas. If you have a good idea, then you should complete the form and submit the form at this link:
