What has happened to Stargate? The show used to have a good them about SG-1 battling and defeating evil in the Universe to protect the earth. Last night I watched Stargate Universe.
Stargate Universe has an uneasy feeling. The cast is stuck on a Destiny, a ship built by the Ancients and traveling further out in deep space with little chance of coming back. Now some bad guys have are trying to take over the ship.
The show was really gory. At the end of the show several people were killed and a pregnant woman was shot. The show indicated that we should tune in October to see who survives.
What happened to the series? Stargate was a great show. The show tied the earth’s history, archeology, and mythology. It also included science fiction and themes of freedom and human rights. I don’t think the new show will appeal to the old show’s fans. The show is too gory.
Maybe this is a trend in science fiction shows since the new Battle Star Galactica TV series.

I hope the producers continue to do movies about the old Stargate SG-1 show. The movies Stargate: Continuum and Stargate: The Ark of Truth were great science fiction movies.
