With the U.S. Government spending so much money investors are looking to diversify with foreign currencies as most people feel the stock these days is not much better than online gambling. You can buy ETFs, CDs in foreign currencies, or forex trading.

ETFs are good way for a stock investor to currencies without trading currencies. CYB is an ETF that invests in the Chinese Yuan. This ETF may be a good investment considering the Chinese having indicated that they will let their currency rise against the US Dollar. FXY invests in Japan’s Yen. If you think the market may go lower, then you can also invest in ETFs that short the market or an industry. You can even invest in the dollar UUP or the inverse of the dollar UDN as indicated by the following article:

ETFs allow you trade in and out of the funds. Most mutual funds discourage an investor from buying and selling the fund. Some even charge redemption fees.

Another way to invest is currencies is Forex trading. Forex trading requires that you establish an account to trade currencies. The currency market is volatile and this may not be a wise decision for the beginning investor. You should consult your broker or find a broker experienced in trading currencies.
